Blue Star Fern

  • Phlebodium Aureum
  • This silvery-hued fern is native to the tropical rainforests of South America and is an epiphyte, meaning it attaches to and grows on trees.
  • They can tolerate lower light levels, but will thrive in medium-bright, indirect light.
  • Happiest in a well-draining soil mix with lots of organic matter. We use a well-draining soil mix containing coco chips, clay pebbles, horticultural charcoal, coarse sponge rock. We fertilize with earthworm castings, Nutricote as directed in the warmer months, and fertilize weekly with fish emulsion.
  • Keep the soil moist but not soggy, and not to let it dry out much between waterings.
  • Does best in warmer weather but will do fine in normal household temperatures. Will thrive in higher humidity and may need a pebble tray if the leaves are unhappy or start to crisp,
