Philodendron Mayoi

  • This beautiful Philodendron is native to Brazil and part of the Araceae family and it looks quite different as a juvenile compared to the shape of the leaves once it's mature.
  • Prefers bright, indirect sunlight but can actually tolerate 2-3 hours of direct morning sun.
  • Use a soil that is well-draining and high in organic matter, we use coco husk chips, horticultural charcoal, fine orchid fir bark, LECA, coarse spongerock, earthworm castings and fine coco coir. We also fertilize using fish emulsion, and superthrive every so often.
  • Water your Mayoi when the first couple inches are dry, if you can still feel moisture sticking your finger in at the top, do not water.
  • Does best in temperatures from 65-80°F and with humidity 60% or higher. It can definitely tolerate lower humidity levels, just may not grow as quickly.
